Controlled entry at under 5 mph is recommended — same as launching any boat. The hull geometry handles the transition smoothly.
Designed for standard boat ramps up to 18–20 degrees — covers virtually all public launch facilities. Sometimes steeper dependent on traction and safety considerations, the WaterCar EV is designed with a ton of torque.
On land: 4 wheel Hydraulic Wilwood® disc brakes with 316 stainless steel rotors — serious braking hardware from a name trusted in motorsports. All wheel disc brakes. On water: shift to reverse or neutral as with any outboard boat.
Yes. The Mercury® 115 HP outboard provides plenty of power for recreational water sports. Performance comparable to similarly-powered sport boats.
The LiFePO4 is also managed by a BMS with self heating, and the battery system is more cold-tolerant than lithium-ion but does experience reduced range in extreme and freezing cold — common to all battery-electric systems. The Mercury® outboard operates normally in all reasonable temperatures.
Approximately 2,000 lbs — light enough to tow behind most SUVs and trucks, heavy enough for stability on water.
USCG certified for 4 persons / 850 lbs maximum passenger weight.
Yes. Passengers remain seated during the transition. The LaunchMode™ system handles everything smoothly.
Yes. Designed to get on plane efficiently with the Mercury® 115 HP outboard — responsive acceleration without excessive bow rise.
Low wake profile comparable to an 18-foot ski boat — manageable, controllable, and considerate on shared waterways.
Absolutely. Hull construction uses marine-grade aluminum alloys that handle saltwater with proper care. All fittings and hardware are stainless steel or marine-grade. Standard maintenance and rinse-down protocols apply — same as any quality marine vessel.
Very stable — designed for confident handling in varied water conditions. The tri-hull design and wide 6.5-foot beam provide stability comparable to boats in its class. USCG certified for 4 persons / 850 lbs.
Designed for paved roads, sand, gravel, and typical boat ramps. Front-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential provides excellent traction in sand, mud, and dirt. The hull is an all-welded aluminum unibody superstructure using marine-grade 50 Series and aircraft-quality 60 Series aluminum alloys — built incredibly tough, but still a boat.
Smooth and comfortable. Independent coil-over suspension with Eibach® springs, Wilwood® disc brakes, and Unisteer® electric power steering deliver surprisingly refined on-road performance — nothing like the rough, jolting ride you’d expect from an amphibious vehicle.
The modified tri-hull with V-bottom design, reverse chines and precision deadrise geometry carves through afternoon chop with confidence. The hull geometry delivers the feel of a much larger vessel. This is a real boat that handles like a real boat.
6–8 gallons per hour at cruising speed — consistent with performance outboards of this class.
18 gallons.
Approximately 80-mile water range. On land, the electric ProDrive™ system provides 20-mile range. Combined range: approximately 100 miles. Varies by condition and weight in boat mode.
Water: 25–30 mph is the sweet spot — planing efficiently with a smooth ride. Land: 20–25 mph handles most LSV-appropriate roads comfortably.
25 mph in street-legal LSV configuration — electronically limited per federal regulations. Military and international versions can exceed 40 mph.
35-40 mph dependent on prop selection, load, and outboard. Military and international versions can hit 40+ mph with higher horsepower.
